The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC) warned on September 12 the public against the use of fake official receipts (ORs) on payments purportedly made for transactions involving closed banks under liquidation.

In an advisory, the PDIC said the fake ORs were found to bear the old PDIC logo, contain misspellings, and falsified signature/s of PDIC personnel, and were inconsistent with the standard format of authentic PDIC-issued ORs.

The PDIC reminded the public to transact only with authorized personnel at the PDIC office located at the PDIC Chino Building, 2228 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.

It also encouraged the public to exercise vigilance and verify the authenticity of all PDIC-related documents for their transactions.

The PDIC also urged the public to report suspicious documents to its Public Assistance Department (PAD) by sending an email to pad@pdic.gov.ph or calling its hotline (02) 8841-4141 for those within Metro Manila, and 1-800-1-888-7342 for toll-free hotline calls outside of Metro Manila.

Suspicious documents may be reported to www.facebook.com/OfficialPDIC or www.x.com/OfficialPDIC.

Walk-in clients may also visit the PDIC PAD at the PDIC Chino Building.

“The PDIC assures the public that it remains committed to protecting the interest of depositors not only through deposit insurance, but also by ensuring transparency in all areas of its operations,” it said.
